What's included on a typical snorkeling tour?

Mask, snorkel and fins, a guide who knows the reef, and boat transport on offshore trips. Many tours add drinks and a light lunch.

Shore snorkel or boat snorkel - which should I pick?

Shore trips are cheaper and great for first-timers; boat trips reach clearer water, wrecks, and turtle grounds you cannot swim to from the beach.

Are snorkeling tours suitable for children?

Many are - check the age limits on each tour page. Tours carrying the "family friendly" label are the safest bet for younger kids.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Basic swimming is enough. Guides carry flotation vests, brief everyone before entering the water, and stay with the group throughout.
